More Gingers

I made these Gingers for my daughter out of a non stretch mystery fabric. They look cute, but they stretch out a lot, so I'll prob need to put the belt loops on after all (I had decided to leave them off after cutting them wrong).

Camas Blouse

I love how this top turned out! I used a dark grey stretch lace for the yoke, so I wasn't sure it would work well, but it was no problem. I also moved the top button up a bit, since I found it a little revealing, and I hate wearing a tank top under everything. You can't tell in the pic, but I also made new underwear;) I first tried the high waist Jocole underwear with the bikini leg, and they were way too high for me, and a size too big. Next I made the same pattern with the hipster rise, and the next size down. These were perfect! I'm going to make more, maybe get some nicer elastic. Underwear takes so so much elastic!

Jedediah pants

I finally hemmed the pants I made for my husband today. Since Doug is a comic book geek, I used batman fabric in the pockets. I actually had bought a similar spiderman fabric to use, but didn't have enough! It's hard to tell in the pic, but they are made from a grey/blue twill. I like how they look, but I probably could have gone down a size, and he finds them abit low in the back, even though they look normal. I've been cutting out the Camas blouse all morning, also from Thread Theory, I should be able to sew it up this evening:)

New Gingers!

These are the most comfortable jeans I have worn in years! I love them, and plan to make many more. They probably could be one size smaller, but I never like the feeling of tight fitting pants, so I find them perfect for me. I have made the lower rise option in the past, but this time tried the high waist, skinnys, and they are so nice. I might try making the high waist with the stovepipe leg next time to see how I feel about that. If you have been afraid to try "real" jeans, this is the pattern for you! The directions are so clear, and the fly in particular is made so well, it's a breeze! I wish all pants patterns followed this method:)

Lots and lots of grey knit!

I found this giant pile of grey stretchy double knit at the Weymouth Frenchys! The cashier asked me what I was going to make with it, and I said EVERYTHING! I've been using it to try out lots of new patterns and it's cozy and warm so it works great for cozy at home clothes even if it's not the prettiest:) I think there was at least 20 or more continuous yards! I made the lane raglan, the skater dress from jocole, and the tulip top from blank slate. I still have enough left to make ALL OF THE THINGS:)

Frenchys is my favourite

In Nova Scotia we have a chain of thrift stores called Frenchys. They have everything, including fabric, so when ever I travel, I stop at the closest one and check out the fabric bin. Sometimes it's beautiful perfect fabric in long lengths, other times it's stuff perfect for a muslin. This pile is from one day and four stores! There is even a couple pieces of rib knit in there. The top half of the stack is all knits, which are hard for me to find in my very rural location.
